Q: think about it like this how can other countries respect us if we don't respect ourselves. and another way; no matter what your parents do you still love them
A: I learned to respect those of leadership. For example, there are judges that I don't agree with. There are senators that I don't agree with. However, I can still call them Your Honor and Mr. Senator. That said, our two party system is failing us massively. Sure I'll use the correct titles, however, I have lost confidence in our government. First of all, I don't think the founding fathers really liked the idea of a party system. Their idea of government was for normal, educated people to run. Their biggest fear was that wealthy, tyrannical, uneducated people would be elected. This explains why they planned a small government with no entitlements. When you have entitlements the people begin to vote for who ever gives them more. The people, not knowing that the government has nothing to give other than our own tax dollars, votes for those who promise the most. It's for this reason, that of the people expecting the government to manage our lives and give us what we want instead of to DO what is best for the nation, why we are divided. It's not a matter of support so much as it is of division. A divided house cannot stand. A nation without a border is not a nation. A nation with no common language is not a nation. A nation without a culture is not a nation. How can we be one if we don't have a common cause? We can't even agree on what our nation is or was or should be!
